Private Italian tutoring gives you one native-speaking instructor for 80 minutes a week and a curriculum shaped around what you can already do and what you cannot yet. Sessions are held at our institute on Anton Boulevard in Costa Mesa, online, or at your home or office.
A package of eight private lessons costs $800, plus a one-time $50 registration fee for new students. That works out to $100 for each 80-minute session with a credentialed instructor, working from a plan built around your level and your goals. Tell us what you need and we will match you with an instructor.

The Institute has taught in Southern California for over twenty years and works with more than 3,000 students a year. Here is what students say about learning with us.

How a Private Italian Lesson Works
We sell private lessons in packages of eight 80-minute sessions. Students already enrolled in one of our group classes can book individual lessons instead of a full package, which is the usual arrangement for someone who wants concentrated work on one weak point before a trip or an exam.
Your instructor sets the curriculum after talking with you about where you are and what you need. A traveler with three months before a trip to Puglia spends their time differently than someone working through citizenship paperwork with an Italian consulate, and neither has to sit through material they already know.
When One-on-One Makes More Sense Than a Class
What a private Italian lesson buys is undivided attention. Eighty minutes with one instructor means nothing in the session goes to material you already know, and nothing you are stuck on gets left behind because the room has moved on.
A deadline is the usual reason students move to private lessons. A class runs on an eight-week term whether or not your trip is in five weeks, and a private schedule can be compressed to fit the time you actually have.
Students with Italian in the family are the other common case. Someone who grew up hearing it at the table often understands far more than they can say, and no single class level fits that gap cleanly.
Semi-Private Italian Lessons
Semi-private lessons are the option when you want to share the sessions with someone working at a similar level, which suits couples preparing for the same trip, coworkers who need the same workplace vocabulary, or a parent and child learning together. The curriculum still gets built around the people in the room rather than a fixed syllabus, and the cost per student comes down because the instructor’s time is shared. Call (714) 662-5400 to arrange one and to confirm Italian instructor availability.
What Private Italian Lessons Cost
Eight private lessons cost $800, and new students pay a one-time $50 registration fee. That package is the usual starting point rather than a fixed product, so tell us if a different number of sessions or a different lesson length fits your goals better, and semi-private lessons bring the cost per student down again.
A group Italian class runs $245 for an eight-week term and meets for 80 minutes a week alongside up to fourteen other students, so the private rate reflects an instructor’s full attention and a curriculum written for one person. Our pricing for group, private, and corporate programs lists every option side by side.
Who Your Italian Instructor Will Be
Our roster runs to more than seventy instructors across the languages we offer, and Italian tutoring comes from native speakers whose English is strong enough to explain grammar in the language you understand best. We hire for teaching credentials or advanced degrees alongside real classroom experience.
Private students work from the same university texts our group classes use, with the sequence rearranged to suit one learner. The Institute has taught in Southern California for over twenty years and works with more than 3,000 students a year.
Italian Tutoring for Children and Teenagers
Private lessons are open to students of any age, which makes them the usual route for a child younger than our group class minimum or a teenager who needs support alongside school Italian. A teenager carrying a school course usually wants help with the chapter they are on rather than a second syllabus.
Little Lingual children’s classes cover ages 6 to 12, though they only run when enough children sign up for a given term. For most families private lessons are the practical answer, and two or three children working at a similar level can share a semi-private lesson.
Where Lessons Happen
Most students meet their instructor at our institute at 600 Anton Boulevard, Suite B in Costa Mesa, where there is parking on site. Lessons also run online, which suits anyone whose commute or schedule makes a weekly drive difficult, and we can send an instructor to your home or office instead. Tell us which format you want when you get in touch.
Students come to us from across the county, including Irvine, Newport Beach, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Tustin, Anaheim, Fountain Valley, and Orange. The online option puts the same instructors within reach wherever you happen to be.
Start Private Italian Lessons
Send us the form below and the office will take it from there. Someone reads every inquiry, talks through your level, your goals and the times you can meet, then matches you with an instructor who fits and confirms the schedule with you. Nothing is booked or charged at this stage, so you are free to ask what you like first.
If you would rather talk it through, call (714) 662-5400 Monday through Thursday from 10:30am to 9:00pm and Friday from 10:30am to 2:30pm, or email info@oclanguages.com. Students who already know what they want can go straight to the private lesson registration and payment form, and anyone still weighing the two formats can check the Italian group class schedule.

At the Orange County Lingual Institute, eight 80-minute private lessons cost $800, which works out to $100 a session, plus a one-time $50 registration fee for new students. Students already enrolled in a group class can buy lessons individually rather than in a package of eight.
Tell us your date when you get in touch. Private lessons are not tied to an eight-week term, so the sessions can be arranged more tightly than a class allows.
Tell us what the consulate has asked you to demonstrate and the instructor will work toward that rather than a general course. We cannot advise on the application itself.
